Glider Lesson
November 26, 2006

Back in Cincinnati for Thanksgiving, I really needed to do something that didn't involve eating or shopping. The weather had been unseasonably warm and sunny all weekend, so I called up Dave and arranged for a glider lesson. We rented a Diamond HK36 Katana Xtreme motor-glider. It's a tiny aircraft with a huge wingspan, modern electronic ignition, fixed gear, and a sweet bubble canopy. In level flight, it can achieve a glide ratio of about 27:1 -- not bad at all.
